Brief Directions

Black Canyon of the Gunnison is on SR 347 which is accessible from US 50 between Montrose and Gunnison Colorado.

Notes

I love Black Canyon of the Gunnison because it is largely unknown to most tourists. While only as half as deep as the Grand Canyon, its rock layers are vertically aligned unlike the horizontal orientation at the Grand Canyon.

Description

Pulpit Rock is one of the view spots on the south rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The canyon is more of a steep gorge although it is about a half mile deep inside the park.
