Notes

Indian Peaks wilderness area lies directly south of Rocky Mountain National park, and only 30 miles from Boulder. The area is equally as beautiful, and often is as busy as the National Park. Numerous trails lead from the main parking areas at Brainard lake, and all lead to photogenic lakes and Mountain Peaks. Lake Isabelle is a popular 4 mile out and back hike, with many photo opportunities along the way. During peak wildflower season (mid July to mid August), the trail, meadows, and areas around creeks and cascades are full of colour. To avoid crowds and thunderstorms, it's best to arrive at the parking area early morning.
