This photo was taken in early morning facing west and the sky was overcast. On the day before (Sunday) the bridge was packed with people enjoying the day and the town was in a festive mood. I was told it was a typical Sunday.
The little town of Bassano del Grappa is in the Veneto region north of Venice. The Ponte Vecchio bridge retains the form designed by the architect Palladio in the 16th century and spans the Brenta River. This region of Italy is less visited by American tourists. Typical of these northern Italian towns are the clear mountain streams flowing down from the alps. This bridge is the town's pride and joy.
