Notes

I live on an island south of Lake Charles, Louisiana near the Gulf Coast on Calcasieu Lake. This marsh is what I see when looking out my front door.

Description

Sunrise over a brackish marsh along the coast of Louisiana near the Gulf of Mexico. Southern Louisiana contains about 40 % of the wetlands found in the lower 48 states. Louisiana's wetlands are being lost at the rate of approximately one football field every 30 minutes. Marshes like this are found all along the Gulf Coast and are the natural habitat of many different amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects, and mammals.
