Guzelyurt is one of my favorite locations on earth. Not only is the village around 2000+ years old but it also sits at the foot of one of Turkey's most beautiful summits, Hassan Mountain. To the right you see one of the many empty monasteries located through out the region of Cappadocia. This one Selime Monastery, sits on a rock over looking a small lake where shepherds still tend to their flocks daily. This day as the sun was setting behind the monastery it lit up the mountain creating a this image. With a bit up luck in timing and a good spot standing on the foundation of an old wall I clicked this picture. Afterwards the shepherds proceeded to tell me that they graze here because they like the view as well. Beauty knows no language barrier.
