Notes

This was the last photograph I made on this particular day. I was on top of a ridge concentrating on shooting some late afternoon light on the land cactus when I noticed the sun was peaking thru the clouds at the last minute. I had just enough time to grab my telephoto from my pack and take three photos. This was my favorite of the three.

Description

Matador Wildlife Management Area consists of 30,000 acres in Cottle County, Texas. Cottle County is in the Texas Panhandle region and could be described as rolling plains. The wildlife management areas of Texas are spread out throughout the state and are often used by hunters. This leaves them wide open most of the year for photographers. This particular area is a sprawling property, yet don't expect any established hiking trails. There are many miles of 2 track dirt roads. A 4 wheel drive vehicle or plenty of time for walking would be a great asset here.
