Description

Yes, the water of the Narrows in Zion is freezing cold and yes, you do have to wade through it repeatedly, but the splendor around is so thrilling, that you soon forget your aching feet. This shot was taken hand-held on a perfect October day from the middle of the Virgin River. The submerged rounded cobble provides such treacherous footing that I felt the need for a walking stick to ensure that more than my feet didn't get wet, making carrying a tripod impractical.
