The baja amazes me because of the way the desert meets the sea almost without warning. Magdelena Bay is the winter home and breeding grounds for a variety of whales but mostly the gray whale. They make their long trip from the Alaskan waters to the warmer waters of the bay and arrive in mid-winter. It is an amazing experience to be in a 15 ft "Panga" and surrounded by these huge but gentle mammals. This is a great place to get away from the cold winters and enjoy the wonderful food, people and of course the gran bellena.
