Lonesome Lake is perhaps one of the most frequently visited spots by hikers due to it's relative ease of accessibility. It is also one of the most beautiful locations here in the White Mountains, and it's AMC hut is a stop along the Appalachian Trail. In the early summer, the position of the sun's arc allows for the opportunity to capture amazing late day light on Franconia Ridge as shown here. Most of the year late day sun is blocked by the mass of the Kinsman Mountains behind you. Calm evenings provide the chance to capture a perfect reflection of the ridge in the lake. I've had my best luck here at sunset, as it takes hours for the sun to rise over the top of Franconia Ridge in front of you, and once it does, lens flare and contrast become factors in the composition.
