Brief Directions

From the junction of US 7 and US 706, go east on US 706, through the town of Ashford, and through the Nisqually entrance to the park. A beautiful 40 minute drive leads to Paradise, parking, and trail access to the Myrtle Falls viewpoint. Head east one-half mile from the upper parking lot along the Skyline Trail to the falls viewpoint.

Notes

Myrtle Falls drops gracefully for over 50 feet, and provides a stunning foreground for viewing Mount Rainier along the Skyline Trail. Located in the heart of Paradise--by far the most visited area of Rainier National Park--the viewpoint is usually crowded, especially on cloudless days. Early mornings and late evenings, however, I have often found myself alone, savoring the lively roar of the falls and the golden light painting Rainier's mighty flanks.
