Notes

While much of this land is accessible to the “day hiker” it begs for the company of a more hearty visitor. To truly appreciate this wilderness one must spend several days exploring. Take the time to observe the hummingbirds feeding in the high meadows, and the butterflies that seemingly swarm to the mineral rich lava flows. Look beyond the snow-capped mountains for the wildflowers and animals that make this wilderness home. Even the mountains themselves change in countenance with the passing of the day. By bringing the right gear, and putting in your time you are certain to be rewarded with sights and images that many others will surely overlook.
