Notes

The road runs near the shore of this bay on the south side of Presque Isle State Park. It was named Misery Bay by the sailors who spent a miserable winter here during the War of 1812. Commodore Perry's fleet was built at Erie and defeated the British Fleet in the Battle of Lake Erie, where he flew the flag reading "Don't give up the Ship". Best times are at dawn and sunset.
