From the town of Junction take Highway 377 South about 5 miles to the park entrance on the left.
This close up of a thistle was taken as the sun was going down on an April afternoon. The deep shade of a stand of trees rendered the background completely black. Every once in a while I am reminded of how the living things out there can appear so simple & elegant at the same time.
South Llano River State Park covers over 500 acres in Kimble County, Texas. The main attraction for most is the cool waters of the namesake river. There are impressive stands of pecan trees along the river bottom and great wildflower displays in the spring. The month of April being the prime time for shooting the blooms.
