This is a picture I took a couple weeks ago on my last morning of a 4 day photo trip to the Eastern Sierra. I was very close to not even waking up for sunrise this particular morning, as I had been waking up at 4:30am the previous 3 days of the trip, and I had a long drive back to the Bay Area ahead of me that day; but I am so grateful that I made the decision to pop out of bed that morning because the ensuing sunrise was absolutely spectacular! The burning glow on the mountain range not only helped me forget about the 20 degree morning cold, but it also helped me to realize just how unbelievably lucky I was to have been witnessing such a breathtaking display of mother nature. Now I know this scene is quite simple - grass, trees, mountains, clear sky - but there was something about this particular orangish-red glow that was unlike any other alpenglow I had ever witnessed. I hope that my image has helped share that glowing beauty in all its glory.
