Take Georgetown Pike east about one mile from the entrance to Great Falls National Park (intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Georgetown Pike)

Notes

This section of the trail follows the Difficult Run Stream about 1 mile to the Potomac River. The stream is wide and flat at the trailhead, but drops sharply through a series of gorges as it descends to the Potomac.
