Take I-64 east from Beckly to the Grandview road exit. The road will take you straight into the park approximatly 8 miles off the interstate.
Beautiful views and photo opportunities abound year round. Fog fills the gorge almost every morning creating some spectacular sunrise opportunities. As the fog lifts the river comes into view.Late May through early July large stands of rhododendrine come into bloom. There are several overlooks. Trails lead to some neat rock formations and small caves. Deer are plentiful in the park and not at all shy.
This photo was taken in mid October just before the sun rose over the ridge in the background. I like to catch these shots while the lack of light in the gorge still produces the nice blue hues to contrast the warm sky.
