- Description: Know what I really love about Valley Of Fire State Park in Nevada?
The wild sandstone in found throughout the park can make for some pretty cool images, and one of the sweetest areas to shoot is the “Fire Wave”.
The fire wave is located in an area full of twisted, rolling sandstone and it was an area we wanted to photograph that evening. I’d been there once before with no success, but I’m nothing if not persistant!
We arrived at the Fire Wave about an hour or so before sunset and I quickly started looking for cool compositions. I played with a variety of different spots at the “normal” place where everyone like to photograph, but I just couldn’t get it to work the way I wanted.
Since I had time, I wandered around a bit and was intrigued with the area you see in the photo above – and it had the added benefit of having more going on with the clouds too. I decided to setup and give it a go.
Time slipped by as I enjoyed the sunset – crossing my fingers for some light in the sky – then it finally happend! The sun skimmed the rocks and lit the clouds above! Snap! Got it!
