• Description: I have been known to drive into blizzards (willingly) in order to photograph Yosemite Valley in snow--and this was one of the more impressive winter storms I've witnessed in the park. One of my favorite vistas is actually outside the valley--as you rise higher on Highway 120 headed towards Big Oak Flat, the Merced River Canyon opens up to the east, providing one of the most dramatic vistas you'll see, with or without stormy weather. I stood shivering in the snow for quite a while to get this shot; clouds kept Bridalveil Fall obscured as the storm moved over, but once in a while, the clouds cleared just long enough to reveal the impressive Bridalveil at the end of the canyon.
