- Description: Pisaster ochraceus, also known as the Purple Sea Star or Ochre Starfish, found in a -0.8 foot tide pool of James V. Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach, CA. One of the few minus tides during the year draws a very large crowd to this well-known tide pool location. With all the people stomping around, it was pure luck that this starfish was visible and undamaged. A setting sun provided beautiful light to show this creature in a more artistic light.
- Gear: Nikon D70, NIKKOR 70–300 F/4-5.6G
