- Description: This was sunset at the historic Many Glacier Hotel (which originally opened to the public on July 4, 1915) on Swiftcurrent Lake in Glacier National Park, Montana. That particular day, after a day hike ending in the Many Glacier area, the wind had changed and brought smoke into the area from a wildfire west of the park. As the sun started to set, the smoke gave the sky a red-pink-orange hue. I quickly set up on the hill above the "Many" and the sky itself began to look as though it was on fire, reflecting on Swiftcurrent Lake. This image is the result of three images bracketed. To me, there is no other place like Glacier National Park, truly "The Last Best Place!" No matter how many times I return, I see a different park with each visit, and truly love this beautiful place. Thanks for looking!
