- Description: In mid-April of this year, I convinced my girlfriend it would be a good idea to do a hiking backpacking trip in Everglades National Park. After driving to the "flamingo" area at the very southern end of the park, we set off on a 14 mile round trip to Clubhouse Beach. After 7 miles one way walking through the stickiest, slimiest mud, wading through swamp, and one close call with an alligator, we arrived! I was attracted to the lines and texture of the mud and how this one patch of Batis or "Salt Wort" stood out in the scene and had to capture it.
