- Best Season: Spring
- Description: This was a difficult shot as the shelf cloud was moving 45mph toward my location. As I was driving down the road trying to find some kind of foreground element to make the storm pop I noticed a small abandoned barn just off a dirt road to my north. I knew I only had seconds. So I drove as close as I could to it leaving me 300 yards away even still. As the storm approached I had to make a quick decision. Stay in my car, be in a safer environment and use my telephoto lens or take the risk and possibly get one of the best shots of my stormchasing career. At this point it was a no brainer, I had to get the shot. As a coyote after a rabbit, as was I after the barn. I was only able to snap 5 shots before the storm was bearing down on me. In the end it was worth the risk. Some say a picture is worth a 1,000 words. In this case a picture was worth my life.
