Smoky Mountain Fall Stream

- Description: Sometimes the good shots aren’t where you think they are.
It was autumn in the Smoky Mountains. If you’ve never been there in the fall, you can be forgiven for thinking it’s a quiet, peaceful time of year when the tourists have flown home and you have the place to yourself.
Nope, it’s a zoo.
I think fall is actually getting as busy as – or even busier than – summer. I knew anywhere I wanted to go that evening would be packed, but I also knew the Little Pigeon River was nearby. I noticed one of the little “Quite Walkway” pull offs that are scattered thought the park, so I stopped to see how far the river actually was from that spot.
Turns out, it was only a three minute walk to this area!
I shot and shot. It rained a little, even a few snow flakes fell, but I played with composition after composition. And the best part was I was completely alone – no one else came by the entire 90 minutes I was in the area!
I had to laugh to myself as the light grew dim and I headed back to my truck. There was literally a traffic jam of people trying to see fall color – and they all passed this fantastic spot on their way to “something better”.
