Backlit Aspens With Sun Star (lundy Canyon, Eastern Sierra)
- Title: Backlit Aspens With Sun Star (lundy Canyon, Eastern Sierra)
- State/Province/Region: California
- Country: United States
- Nearest Town: Lee Vining
- Description: There's a wealth of canyons in the Eastern Sierra, and I certainly have my favorites that I revisit every year. What you notice the more you visit these places is that each canyon has a distinct personality. With Bishop Canyon, especially the south fork (my favorite of all the canyons), the walls seem a bit steeper, with much more exposed granite. This makes for a nice juxtaposition with the soft white aspen trunks. Lee Vining Canyon, as it curves to a north/south bend, has more muted colors as a result of the different angle of light and the ground vegetation--pale green sagebrush and soft, blonde grasses.
This shot is from Lundy Canyon, which runs almost exactly east/west, is wide open in a lot of spots, and seems to have some of the more intense golds.
- Gear: Canon 6D
