• Description: During a recent Italy trip I spent a day on Vulcano, a small island to the North of Sicily. I have always been fascinated by volcanic activity and I went to the island to check out the fumaroles, about an hour hike uphill from the closest town. I scouted the area during the day (wasn't very impressed with the glaring light) and decided to return to the location in the late evening with a headlamp, tripod and additional camera gear. I had the place to myself, stayed up there until the sun had complete set and captured some great photos of the fumaroles with the Aeolean islands in the background.
