Coyote In A Snowstorm
- Title: Coyote In A Snowstorm
- State/Province/Region: Wyoming
- Country: United States
- Best Season: Winter
- Description: We were about done one late fall day in Yellowstone National Park and decided to head back to the hotel for a good night’s sleep. Ahh, but there’s still a hint of light left, it’s snowing, and there’s that little dirt road….
We gotta take a look!
Sure enough, just as soon as we hit that road we spotted this coyote on the hunt. I grabbed the camera and the 300 2.8 and we tired a shot or two – DRAT! Too far away.
Well, I saw the direction the ’yote was heading, and I knew she’d need to cross the road. The tricky part was anticipating just WHERE she was going to cross.
Since most animals will keep with the path of least resistance, we got to a spot that looked good and waited. Wasn’t long before we spotted her coming around – she was going to cross just a few yards ahead!
I gently eased the truck up, got the camera set, and out she popped from the brush! This shot was the result
Oh, and less than a minute after this shot, she found her dinner. She was moving too fast to capture it (lots of blurry photos), but she did get a good munchin’ on some unlucky field critter.
At that, she trotted off and so did we.
