- Best Season: Autumn
- Description: After being inspired by a video I saw by Photographer Bryan Peterson on Oil & Water as a photographic subject, I started experimenting with this medium/subject. I took a clear pyrex dish, filled halfway with water and placed it on 2 stacks of old VHS tapes to elevate it. Placed various types and colors of wrapping paper underneath the suspended dish, added some olive oil. I mounted my Nikon D3000 on my tripod, angled straight down and about 12"-18" above the surface of the water. Mounted 3 clamp on utility lamps w/100w incandescent bulbs in various positions around the dish, gave a stir to the Oil & Water and started clicking away, continuing to experiment with light positions, how many lights on and different wrapping papers. I wound up with several really good images from this experiment. This is one of if not my favorite of them all.
- Gear: Nikon D3000 w/ 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 kit lens and some makeshift incandescent utility lights for lighting, oil, water, pyrex dish, wrapping paper
