• Description: I had gone on a backpacking trip to the Cirque of the Towers in the Wind Rivers Wilderness in mid July with a couple of my girlfriends. I was so blown away with the scenery that my husband and I cancelled our planned kayak in Yellowstone so that I could share it with him a couple of weeks later. Three days into our hike a rain storm came in and stayed for a couple of days, making for some miserable hiking. The day that I took this picture we had been hiking in the rain again and finally came to the Cirque to find it hidden by the clouds. We walked down by the stream (through a very wet, swampy, mosquito laden meadow) and the clouds cleared just enough to get this shot. We then set up our tent and a tarp just before the hail storms and thunder snow. We spent the evening enjoying a campfire while drinking hail-ritas (margaritas with hail!) under the tarp . What a fantastic day! Whenever I see this photo, it takes me back.
