- Description: This was another of those brief moments that I knew I'd probably have one shot to get it right. I had spotted a couple of mule deer bucks while my husband and I were hiking during our annual camping trip. We'd went later this time and so the Aspens were starting to lose their leaves and turn because of recent snow and cold. We'd gotten up very early in search of a few last photos on the last day in the park. We were trying to get downwind of the mulies I had spotted to hopefully get a couple of cool shots. We came upon this area where the pines broke and the aspens were glowing just over the hill. To our surprise, there were a lot more mulies on that mountain side than we realized....the does snorted and moved on and the rest started to follow....before we could get into position. My husband was behind and down from me and motioned for me to get ready that there was a smaller buck headed into the lit clearing....it was perfect, he paused just long enough in front of the glowing aspens....as if to say, "here you go....here's your shot, now, move along" :)
