Canon’s EOS Integrated Cleaning System was introduced in the EOS Digital Rebel XTi, but the Mark III utilizes a different Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit designed specifically for the Mark III. Ultrasonic vibrations shake dust off the front infrared-absorbing glass each time the camera is switched on (you also can cancel the automatic cleanings and initiate cleaning whenever desired). Other parts of the system include an antistatic surface on the sensor’s low-pass filter, shutter and body caps designed to generate less dust, and dust-delete data obtained and appended to each image for removal via software.
