This Article Features Photo Zoom

New Creative Image Filters
Four artistic filters let you apply special effects in-camera: Soft Focus, Grainy Black and White, Toy Camera and Miniature Effect. Effects are applied to copy images, leaving the original intact.
Vari-Angle High-Res LCD
The high-res, 3.0-inch, 1,040,000-dot LCD monitor has a 3:2 aspect ratio to match that of the image sensor (and better match the 16:9 ratio of HD video). The LCD tilts and swivels—a first for an LCD on an EOS DSLR, and a great feature for getting the “worm’s-eye view.”
Easy-Access Live View/Movie Shooting
The Live View/Movie button initiates live view operation, and once in Live View mode, pressing the button starts and stops video recording. The EOS 60D offers three Live View AF modes: Quick (uses the camera’s quick phase-detection AF, but momentarily disrupts the live view during focusing); Live (contrast-based, no disruption of live view during focusing); and Face Detection (contrast-based, detects and focuses on human faces in the scene). You also can focus manually, zooming the LCD monitor image 5x or 10x.
New Multi-Control Dial
Mid- and high-end EOS cameras have had a handy rear Quick Control Dial for quite a few models now, but the EOS 60D turns it into an even handier Multi-Control Dial, which incorporates an arrow-key ring (replacing the separate Multi-Controller lever of earlier cameras) for easier operation in vertical, as well as horizontal shooting, and a cleaner camera design.
