CLEAN UP
Don’t let dust on your DSLR’s sensor ruin a great shot. Keep it clean with the LensPen SensorKlear Loupe kit. You position the pen on the camera body, like you would a lens, and light is directed to pinpoint the problem while helping you see what you’re cleaning. Once dust is found, the included blower removes it. For cleaning sticky dust, use the access window at the side of the loupe and insert the angled tip of the new SensorKlear II pen to clean away the dirt. Estimated Street Price: $79. ADAPTER RING
If you’re a Lensbaby fan, you know that standard step-up rings for connecting a filter won’t work with the Composer, but now there’s a solution. The Lensbaby Step-Up/Shade is a special 37mm to 52mm adapter ring that fits into the Composer while also serving as a lens shade that blocks flare and provides better light. With 52mm threads on the front, the Step-Up/Shade allows you to use any 52mm filter with all Lensbaby lenses and optics, except for the Fisheye Optic. The small, lightweight ring measures 1.4 inches from the front edge of the hood to the surface of the optic, delivering protection from flare. Estimated Street Price: $25. Contact: Lensbaby, (877) 536-7222, www.lensbaby.com.
TOUGH DRIVE
Back up while out in the field using Iomega’s 3Gen eGo III Portable Hard Drive. Weighing less than seven ounces, the drives pack plenty of storage with capacities of 250, 320 and 500 GB. With Iomega’s Drop Guard feature, data stays protected if the drive accidentally is dropped from up to four feet. Also included is the Iomega Protection Suite, a collection of software that protects your data and computer. Estimated Street Price: $84 to $129. Contact: Iomega, (888) 516-8467, www.iomega.com.
WIRELESS TRANSMITTER
If you’re the kind of roaming nature photographer who likes to know exactly where a shot was taken, one of the many innovative features found in Canon’s new Wireless File Transmitters is geotagging capability. The units allow you to geotag images through GPS devices, and you can add coordinates to an image’s EXIF data. The WFT-E2 II A, WFT-E4 II A and WFT-E5A are designed for the EOS-1D Mark IV, EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D, respectively. The transmitters deliver a wide range of wireless compatibility options, including IEEE 802.11a connectivity. Additionally, reliable transfer options, such as FTP Mode, allow for instant file transfer across a local network from anywhere in the world. Estimated Street Price: $699. Contact: Canon, (800) OK-CANON, www.usa.canon.com.
SECURE ROLLER
Keep your gear safe in the Flashpoint WSA-84 watertight hard case with wheels. The interior has 21x12.6x7.6 inches of space for storing your DSLR system. Made from a high-impact structural polymer material, the case is strong, durable, and resistant to dust and chemicals. The WSA-84 includes a purge valve for quick pressure equalization, making the case easy to open after changes in atmospheric pressure. High-density foam protects equipment against impact, vibration or shock. Two molded-in holes allow you to add standard-size padlocks, offering another measure of security. Estimated Street Price: $159. Contact: Adorama, (800) 223-2500, www.adorama.com.
