ACDSee 7 PowerPack. This three-in-one software package features slideshow creation along with a fast browser and versatile image editing. It offers a host of ways to share your slideshows, including PDF or Flash Slideshows and Tivo DVR. $79.99.

Apple iPhoto 5. Part of the Apple iLife Suite, iPhoto 5 includes the tools for creating slideshows along with basic image-editing capability. Fully integrated with the software’s image-cataloging system, the application makes it easy to group photographs for inclusion into a slideshow. Music also can be imported from your iTunes catalog. $79.

Apple Keynote 2. While the presentation application found in the Apple iWork Suite is designed primarily for text-heavy presentations, it offers many features for the inclusion of digital images and music, as well as a wealth of templates. It’s fully integrated with Apple’s other applications, such as iPhoto and iTunes. It features the Ken Burns effect for movement within the image. $79.

Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. Photodex ProShow Gold 2.5. For a complete range of ways to share your digital slideshow, there’s Photodex ProShow Gold 2.5. In addition to producing a recordable DVD, the software creates an executable file that you can e-mail or include as a video component on your personal Website. It features more than 280 transitions effects, 70 caption effects, integrated voice-overs and customizable backgrounds to make this a versatile application. Roxio Digital Media Studio Deluxe 7. At a very affordable price, Roxio Digital Media Studio Deluxe 7 creates slideshows quickly, complete with transitions and music. The straightforward application includes some of the functionality of video editing in the creation of digital slideshows. It features a great way to back up all your media content, including music and video. $99.

Simple Star PhotoShow Deluxe 4. Offering basic image editing, cataloging, royalty-free music and animated clip art, Simple Star PhotoShow Deluxe 4 packs a large selection of features in an affordable and user-friendly package. In addition to converting your slideshows to HTML for your Website, the software records your slideshow to VCD, which is playable on most console DVD players. $49.
