These Egrets were torn between finding food as each wave fell back from the sand, avoiding the next incoming wave and inspecting my children, who seemed to be competing with them by digging holes in the beach.

My first visit to Yosemite in the Fall and I didn't realize it was "that time of the year" for Lady Bugs! They were covering the walls along the Merced River.

It was tricky and slow going to get close enough to this little guy to capture his beautiful markings and green body. I believe it's an Eastern Comma.

I was watching a bunch of birds at a feeder near the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery, when this male Cardinal settled on a branch long enough for me to snap this photo.
At first, it just looked like a sea of green in the pond, then I saw something looking back!
An Owl in flight flying towards the camera . . . an almost impossible shot.
The presence of all colors makes white. Against the red of the flower and with the green visitor makes this a one time shot.
