Sea Ranch has about 80 miles of trails, bioth along the bluffs and coastal meadows, and throughout the redwoods along the ridges. This was a nice mid-day hike after a brief rain shower and the tree canopy provides a ice filter from the mid-day sun.
This image was taken in the Algonac Prairie and Savannah Natural Area, located in southeast Michigan. The area consists of oak savannah and lakeplain prairie. Both of which are endangered ecosystems in the Great Lakes.

On this particular trail, there is about a mile that goes through a bamboo forest. It's a chanllenge to shoot in it because the bamboo is so thick it blocks out most of the light. Most of my images were are 15-30 second shutter speeds.
It pays to go back to places. I was shooting this pond 2 days earlier with about 1/4 of the flowers. Two days later, it was almost filled with African Tulip tree flowers.
Shooting the sunrise in minus degree temperatures is always a challenge. On this morning, I noticed great clouds and snow-shoed to an area I thought would make great silhouettes. As the sun rose, the clouds burst into magnificent red colors.
