This particular beach became inundated with sand recently and I was able to set foot in places that are usually under water. There was no color in the sky so I converted over to black and white.
Far off in the distance.....
A rather large swell slammed into Kauai a few weeks ago uncovering all the lava rocks buried beneath the sand at this beach. It's pretty amazing to observe how this location changes on a daily basis due to the conditions.
This is a new location for me and I went a few nights ago just to scout it out. After looking through the files this one got me really excited so I wanted to share it with you all. I loved the dynamic relationship between the clouds and the water.
I typically don't have a location or plan in mind when I go shoot. I usually just chase the clouds and end up where I think I'll find something interesting. This was one of those "let's go drive around and see what I can find" evenings.
It's been a while since I've gone up into the canyon and I feel an adventure is going to happen really soon. It was raining way off in the distance this day so I grabbed my 100-400mm and took a few clicks.
I went browsing back through some of my files looking for some potential B&W conversions. Thought the textures in the lava rock and sky were fun and translated over well in this particular image.
I shot this from the most incredible spot on the planet. This was my second time hiking out here, and it was better than the first. The small group of friends I was with enjoyed experiencing this rainbow filled moment together.

Fisher Island is a private island located in front of Miami Beach coast line, and can only be accessed by the island's private ferry.
Garden of the Gods always presents fantastic photo opportunities. By far, my favorite time to image this park is after a snowfall as the pristine white snow contrasts nicely with the many red rock formations and the green pine trees. Also the area is...
While driving through Sonoma County late in the afternoon I stopped to photograph some beautiful Clydesdale Horses in a large pasture. As I was about to leave I looked over my shoulder into this vineyard and saw the Red White and Blue flying in the...
While driving on Old Adobe Road this beautiful full moon was just rising across the top of this old barn. So much contrast and beauty in this old barn I had to pull over. No tripod with me so the shot was hand held. This area of Sonoma is Happy cow...
Sunrise on the Eastern Sierra, looking north toward Bishop from the Buttermilk Hills. A storm was moving through and had left fresh snow on the mountains, and the clouds were so low it looked like I was almost parallel to them-they appear to be...
This day on Rush Ranch the local cattle rancher was moving cattle from one location to another. The sunlight was just right to brighten the horses face and the riders cowgirl hat.
Storm light over Canyonlands National Park, UT. A storm was moving in and I got a few hours to myself to go and shoot. The late afternoon light was beautiful when I took this, but there was just so much going on in the shot-textured foreground,...
An early morning 160 degree pano overlooking forest canyon and the never summer range. Late fall and extremely windy day. Overlooks Arrowhead lake and Mt Ide

This is one of the most restricted places in the Southwest; only 20 people per day are permitted to hike to it. It took us over a year to pull permits from the lottery to visit Coyote Buttes North: The Wave. Our permit date fortunately landed on...
Morning light paints the face of Death Valley's rugged badlands on a late winter morning. The golden rays of morning light stand in contrast to the long and darkened shadows still sleeping on the desert floor.
It was a cold brisk evening at Dead Horse Point National Park, Utah. The layers of snow beckoned me to this location to capture sunset overlooking the Colorado River and the prominence of Dead Horse Point. The snow clinging to the immense vertical...

If you've ever been to Park Avenue in N.Y.C. you can see why these huge sandstone rocks in Utah give the impression of skyscrapers along Park Avenue. The long shadows which are cast emphasize the enormity of the skyscraper-like rocks.
Setting day is the term used for the first day of Lobster season. The fisherman leave together on the same day to set their traps. The morning light was beautiful this day.
