Obtain backcountry permit at the ranger station at Jenny Lake and head for the south shore of Snowdrift Lake, a truly idillic and remote location at just over 10,000ft.
The foreground is sharp and noise-free because I blended two exposures. The blend is absolutely necessary here, because to capture so much light above and little star movement I needed to expose at f/2.8, ISO 3200 with noise reduction applied later, which wouldn't have worked for the foreground. The foreground image was taken 6 hours earlier and the camera was not moved.
