Photo Details

  • Title: Humming Bird At Work
  • State/Province/Region: California
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Tahquitz Canyons (part of the Indian Canyons)
  • Nearest Town: Palm Springs
  • Description: Visiting Palm Springs was quite the departure for my daily view in Buffalo, NY. The area was pretty barren and wildlife basically consisted of geckos and iguanas. I spotted this hummingbird on the last part of our trip through Tahquitz Canyon and didn't know how it would turn out. The light was harsh and the humming bird was moving ridiculously fast. I mounted my 2x teleconverter to my full frame 70-200mm for an effective 400mm focal length on my full frame camera. All in all, I shot maybe a dozen images of this humming bird hard at work and this was the only keeper of the pack. It turned out to be one of my favorites from the trip.
  • Brief Directions: Tahquitz Canyon is just a quick hop skip and a jump from Palm Springs. Just take West Mesquite road until you get to the end and you cannot miss it.
  • Notes:
  • Best Season: Spring
  • Gear: Nikon D700, Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, Nikon 2x Teleconverter
