I've found Mono Lake a fascinating place to photograph. The high alkaline content in the lake make it inhospitable for most water borne species to survive. I was looking for compositional elements that highlighted this harsh reality. So I was drawn towards this bark of dead wood by the shores of the lake. The storm clouds that loomed large over the lake complemented the scene as it seemed to accentuate the fact that mere survival at the lake was itself not easy. The storm clouds lit up at the first light of day to provide a colorful backdrop to this harsh scene.
