It was another one of those overcast afternoons with terrible flat light. Since I was guiding a photo client, we were struggling to get something memorable to shoot. As it approached sunset, we could see a small break in the clouds, just above the horizon. I asked my client if she wanted to try to make a run for a good place for a sunset shot, just in case the clouds didn't block out the sunset. We rushed up to this spot, the Shafer Canyon Overlook, and as we were approaching the overlook, it started to rain lightly. I told my client that if the sun dropped below the clouds before sunset, we had perfect conditions to get a rainbow. We had just enough time to get set before the sun dropped below the clouds and the rainbow appeared.
