Exodus

  • Title: Exodus
  • State/Province/Region: Washington
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Skagit Valley
  • Description: Often gathering in flocks of several thousand, Washington’s snow geese migrate south from Wrangle Island in Russia to spend winter along Puget Sound. The relatively mild temperature here allows the snow geese to feed on vegetation and grain found in farm fields. However, such large numbers do not go unnoticed. Bald eagles keep a close eye on this massive flock. When one of these eagles attempts to single a goose out, the flock erupts in a mass, collective exodus, making it extraordinarily difficult for the eagle to target any particular individual.
