The Golden Gate Bridge celebrated her 75th birthday on May 27, 2012. The city of San Francisco honored her by throwing a gigantic party and capping it off with the most outstanding fireworks display that I've ever seen. There were fireworks from barges, from under the bridge, on top of the bridge, off the sides and top of the tower, and a lightshow from a barge. I waited for 9 hours before the fireworks began. Here you see the opening "candle-lighting" (sparklers lighting up the underside of the bridge) as the first fireworks explode into the sky.
