Brief Directions

This is one of my favorite pieces about the various groups of people of varying cultures that have always lived peacefully on Crete.

Description

As a clarinet player myself, I fell into conversation with this Roma clarinetist at the district bus station in Rethymnon, Crete. When I asked if I could take his photo, he nodded assent. But suddenly he said to wait a moment. He reached down to the nearest table and scooped up a Cretan farmer who was waiting for the bus, put his arm around him, and said "Now!"
