Even during daytime the lighting is dim in a rainforest. When taking the photo, I didn't even realize the young ones were there until I reviewed the photo on the camera display.

Description

The spectacles caiman is a species of Least Concern due to its success in its ecological niche. Its numbers are increasing. Caimen grow to be about 6 feet in length, much smaller than its cousins the crocodile and American Alligator. This mother with young was found in Tortuguero National Park on the east coast of Costa Rica.
