From July 7th to July 14th I had the unforgettable experience of walking through Auschwtiz with Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor. Eva and her twin sister Miriam were subjected to the experiments of the infamous Dr. Mengele while at Auschwitz, and were the only surviving members of their family. Unlike other survivors, Eva has publicly forgiven the Nazis that had caused her so much pain in the past. While others may reject this unusual mindset, I think Eva's story of forgiveness is incredible. She explained to us that by allowing hatred and anger to 'control' her, she was still not free of the Nazis. By forgiving them for what they had done to her and her family, Eva felt free from her suffering and is able to live a life of joy and happiness. Eva is a remarkable and inspirational woman, and a true hero.
