A tree had fallen in a storm and pushed this nest down to viewing height. Problem was it was too dark in the hammock of trees for action photos and birds don't sit still and pose. I would never use flash on a baby bird's eyes, and I prefer natural light anyway. So I waited many hours for the sun to work its way to a opening in the canopy of the trees, where it provided a little patch of light on the nest, and left the background in the dark. In the full size image, I can see, not only the love and pride in this mothers eyes, but also the reflection of the sun sparkling through the trees, providing the long awaited light I needed to take this photo.
