Description: Hundreds of people flock to Yosemite National Park each year to witness the Horsetail Falls "Fire Falls" event every February. When the sun sets at just the right elevation and angle the setting sun makes the waterfall appear to be on fire. I witnessed this earlier in the year and it is quite the spectacle! Using similar calculations I was able to determine that the same phenomenon would happen at night by the light of the moon! I arrived at the El Capitan picnic grounds and was amazed by what the camera could capture. Our eyes, which view color extremely poorly at night saw just a bright white waterfall, while the camera, who can pick up the light frequencies during both day and night, was able to capture the fire falls beautifully!
