Description: The Laikipia plains of Kenya stretch from the Great Rift Valley to the Northern Rangeland, forming part of the Ewaso ecosystem. The plains are as scenically spectacular as they are biologically diverse. A growing tourism sector provides incentive for the protection of the ecosystem by local communities, from the majestic white rhino and plains zebra down to the oxpecker bird. Laikipia has become a model for wildlife conservation on private and communally owned land.
