The day I made this image had been overcast so there were few people up at the arch, and for the most part the sunset had been a disappointment. When everybody was sure nothing was going to happen, they packed up and left. I took advantage of having the place nearly to myself (one other person with a hand held point and shoot camera remained) and I hiked to the far side of the arch. 20 minutes or so after most everyone had left the sun found a sliver of clear sky at just above the horizon and the clouds exploded with color. It only lasted a few minutes, but it was glorious.
