  • Description: We were cruising the Sea of Cortez ( Gulf of California) when we came upon a pod of Short Finned Pilot Whales. The early sunrise light and dead calm water made perfect conditions for when the whales came up right alongside our boat. This image was taken just as the Whale began to break the surface.
